Well, until the end of 2023, I had no idea what stillness meant.
I could meditate, do yoga, and do all of the other things I encourage on my site. But did I really feel the stillness? I tried it, but I did not experience it to the fullest!
I went to yoga yesterday, which is something I like doing, but as usual, my mind wandered and I wasn’t comfortable where I was practicing since I was simply by the wall. This is where my story starts. I was wondering what stillness means to me, what it does to me, and how can I experience it again. By sharing my story, I hoped you would reflect on your own stillness and where you want it to be in 2024.
What is stillness?
Stillness is the absence of motion or movement. Stillness may be found in items like a marble statue or in water. Stillness may also refer to silence, quietness, or hush. Stillness may be soothing to some individuals.
According to Eckhart Tolle, stillness is a brief stoppage of thought. A brief pause, even if just for a few seconds. More specifically, Tolle claims that the path to inner stillness and the capacity to shift concentration away from one’s thoughts allows one to completely accept and be content with the present moment.
Have I experienced the stillness?
I believe I had it yesterday. Despite all of the inconvenience and other things that went through my mind, I’ve decided that I’m disconnected and the thoughts can continue to flow around, and then it happened and I was balancing and everything was just fine, there was quiet and no thoughts or people just quiet, and I believe I’ve reached my stillness!
Then I wanted to experience it again at night, but everything was happening in my brain again, but later when I listened to Tetha waves, I got it again, and even now on the train, I simply listen to some music and I feel like I’m back there.
Everyone has a unique experience with stillness. Some people get it quickly, while others struggle.
Can an Active person experience stillness?
You guessed correctly. I’m recognised as an “active person,” yet most of the “action” is in my thoughts, and there are fewer genuine acts, which exhausts me even more. I, like others, want to consume everything, learn to play instruments, sing more songs, create, spend more time with my partner, be a better mum, and spend more time with my children. Not to mention that I would want to visit my family again, support my parents, support my friends, make more money so that I could help them and travel more. Should I go on?
But, with all of these ideas and objectives, I think that an energetic person may experience stillness for even a few seconds and feel great afterward!
Everyone is unique, and the path to this calm might take various forms, even some we did not anticipate.
It was for me to bring it into my environment, to be conscious of it, and to manifest it. I tried listening to theta healing and then attempted to learn about a chakra meditation. I believe I am on a road towards more appreciation for life, more generosity, and gratitude.
Are you ready for 2024 stillness?
How can you invite your stillness in 2024?
As previously said, everyone has their own way of bringing certain things into their lives. What is stillness to you? If you read these words, it seems that it is something you were considering. Do you sense a lack of stillness and want to experience it but aren’t sure how?
By reading this brief blog, you have already begun the process! You are reawakening your conscientiousness. Our brain is predictive, and we are designed to anticipate the same things and update them so that they make sense to us and bring us back to our comfort zone.
It’s challenging but I agree to shut our eyes or gaze at anything while standing on one leg in the air and simply breathing. Or just sit in the yard and listen to the wind blow. I have a friend who loves the ocean waves because they surround her with calm, which she refers to as bliss at times.
How would you feel if you could just stop everything in your head, have no movement, and live in the current moment?
If you want to learn more and join me on a meaningful adventure, please give me a shout!
I wish you a Happy 2024!
Yours,
Vered,

I found your article on the power of stillness incredibly thought-provoking. The notion of finding peace and strength through stillness resonates deeply. How do you suggest someone incorporate stillness into a busy daily routine? Personally, I’ve discovered that practicing mindfulness for a few minutes each day has helped me embrace moments of quiet reflection.
Your discussion on the benefits of stillness for mental well-being is spot on. It’s amazing how taking a pause can enhance clarity and reduce stress. Have you encountered any specific techniques or practices that amplify the benefits of stillness? Your insights could offer valuable guidance to those seeking to integrate this practice into their lives. Thank you for highlighting the importance of embracing stillness amidst life’s hustle and bustle.
Thanks for your comment Pasindu🙏
Thanks Vered for your interesting article which resonates with me. Especially the action being in your thoughts. I have similar experiences. For a couple of years now I practice meditation. In times of consistent meditation it is easier to maintain a consistent state of calm and its easier to reach the stillness (I like that word) state quicker and more easy. For me nature also helps. For example a moment after diner on a bench on a sunny summer evening in in a field in France. Than I dont need meditation. Im just there. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts on stillness. Into 2024 and beyond.
Thank you Dirk! Every moment counts.
Summer evening in the field of France already makes me smile and takes me to a better state of mind🙏
Happy 2024!
